The Australian High Commission in Port Vila manages the Australian Government’s presence in Vanuatu. We promote Australia’s interests, facilitate international trade and investment, deliver development assistance, respond to crises and provide services to Australian citizens. Under general direction, the Defence Finance and Administration Officer provides financial, administrative, operational and logistical support to the Australian High Commission (AHC) and the Defence Cooperation Program (DCP). The position will be primarily based at the AHC but will require short-term work at Mala Base and Cook Barracks depending on operational and administrative requirements. The position will work independently to support strong coordination across all areas of the DCP operations, and may be required to undertake work outside of normal hours.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Relevant accounting/finance qualifications, or equivalent level experience
► Prior experience working in a professional office environment
► Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
► Excellent verbal and written English and Bislama communication skills
► A current and valid driver licence, and the ability to maintain a clean driving record
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Experience using financial management systems (e.g. SAP) and databases
